Cultural differences

When, as a Dutch company, you want to focus on the German market for the first time, it is important to take cultural differences into account. For instance, Germans are much more formal than the Dutch; they often find the Dutch far too direct and informal. Be careful with tutoring, for example. Make sure you use the correct pronoun: ‘Du’ or ‘Sie.’

Germans value authority and reliability. For example, Germans value quality marks; a quality mark inspires confidence in the German customer and increases the likelihood of an actual purchase. If you qualify for German seals of approval, make sure they are clearly displayed on your website.
